The Itinerary
Our initial route will take us across Biscay to Northern Spain - La Coruna - where we will probably moor Moontide up in a marina for a day or two so I can recuperate!
Then we're down the Spanish/Portugese coast either in small hops calling into some of the Rias en route or we may sail straight down to the Algarve.

River Guadiana
Once there, we will travel up the River Guadiana which forms part of the border between Portugal and Spain and is navigable for about 30 miles inland and is wonderful (we spent a week nearby last spring).
Chris has a number of friends near one of the "twin towns" about 25 miles up river, both on boats and on land so this will be our first long-ish term stop where we will spend some time at anchor renewing old acquaintances. sharing a glass or two!!
From here our plans depend on how I've taken to ocean sailing and the life on board with no washing machine!!
We may either spend the rest of the summer in this area, along the coast or assuming I've not taken off in fright, we may sail across to The Canaries and spend some time there.
Then the decisions really begin:- stay around the Canaries; back to the Med; or possibly the Cape Verdes Islands to get visas for Brasil. If its going well, possibly the Caribbean; possibly through the Panama Canal into the Pacific and then to Australia.
But all this is for the next few years - let's just get to the Algarve first!!!
