Just a quick post to keep up to date –ish!
After a bit of an desperate search after someone let us down at the very last minute, we found a lovely room in new build house on the outskirts of Wellington; a town next to Taunton on the way down to Exeter.
Our hosts Angie & Peter were great and welcomed us warmly with a glass of wine when arrived on our first evening.

This did rather set the pattern of most of our evenings especially when it was warm outside! As well as 3 gorgeous cats they had a young border collie that would play catch ALL evening if you let her. If you got a bit bored she would try to persuade you by putting the ball/toy behind you on the back of your chair so making it really uncomfortable so you had to throw it again! When she wasn’t playing catch she would go off and play football on her own!!
(If Chris had been writing this nearly all the pictures would have been of the cats but I am so its the dog!!!)
We spent some time in Exeter visiting doctors (again!) and dentist etc and also caught up with my festival friends in Taunton.
Also while there I was able to catch a performance of Romeo & Juliet by the Taunton Thespians, directed by my ex-husband Peter. It was a wonderful performance – the cast was brilliant with a special mention to a very young Juliet and inexperienced Romeo who both acted so well & way beyond any expectation. It did bring a tear to my eyes. It was meant to be the Thespians Summer Open Air Tour but inevitably the day I booked, it rained and with sword fights on stage it was way too dangerous to be held on slippery grass and had to be taken in – but the cast showed no sign that they had had so little time to see the space!!

We had hoped to move on after 2 weeks as my family were meeting up for the annual gathering in Milton Keynes (marked on first map)and I had hoped to be a bit closer to them and also to the festival I always go to when possible, in Cropredy (marked on 2nd map) near Banbury, Oxfordshire. This didn't work though as one advert was very misleading about parking so after agreeing to go when we got the full details we decided against it, found somewhere else and then again was let down – with slightly better notice though this time!!!
So we travelled from Wellington to Milton Keynes for the Family Gathering and had a really great time catching up with my brothers and sisters and their spouses. At these parties we all take along a main, a salad and a dessert or cheese so there is always LOADS to eat (and drink as of course we also all take some beer and wine!!!). The first evening, however, we were treated to a marvelous Thai meal in central MK mmmmmmmmmmmmm lovely!
A couple of walks; around Willan Lake and then to the canal and a perfect weekend was had by all!!
Unfortunately we all forgot to take a picture of the group!

Back to Wellington and on the Monday we set off, fully packed up this time, to our current home in Langar nr Bingham, a market town in Nottinghamshire; sort of between my sister (Leicester) and daughter (Lincoln). We are looking round this area as we may well want to move here when we finally come home. It’s also closer to the festival!!!
It’s a self-contained studio at the bottom of Michelle's (the owner) garden – very small but as we agreed with Michelle (who has been sailing too!) bigger than a boat!!
We have not done much more than find the local supermarkets in Bingham, browse the internet looking at houses and take a couple of trips to Grantham, the nearest larger town.
But I have found time in all my excitement (see below) to spend a great day in Lincoln catching up with my daughter.

I have been preparing for and getting very excited about going to FAIRPORTS CROPREDY CONVENTION which begins TOMORROW!!!! Before we left to start our adventure in 2012, I had been to everyone since 1998. It was my first festival AND first camping experience but, oh boy, was it worth it!! So I've not been able to think of much else - sorry!! |
More about it when I return. Just praying for 4 days of dry weather, 3 for the festival and one to get the tents down!!
Have fun everyone – I know I will xxx
