New equipment is being fitted; a new GPS outside in the cockpit; a replacement repeater for the GPS inside (the repeater shows details outside of what the GPS inside shows); and the compass for the new electronic self steering. As Moontide is made of steel the compass has to be fitted to the mast and Chris has been making a bracket to attach it. The compass will be about 8 feet off the deck so that it's magnetic workings are not affected.
We have both splashed out and bought new sailing jackets - well his was necessity but mine was a bit of a treat as the one I bought 2 years ago is ocean going quality and I find a little heavy at times; this does mean that we will have 3 jackets so hopefully will be able to find a dry one when needed!
I also bought myself a lifejacket - I thought it a necessity but Chris wasn't so sure !!!!!! No, seriously, he tkes safety very seriously and wouldn't let me out in the cockpit without one.
So all in all we're very nearly there and if this weather continues it won't be long at all!
