As we were motoring at this stage, as usual I quickly got the fenders in and coiled the ropes and got them off the deck as we don't want them falling in the water and getting caught round our prop!
We left the harbour and Chris put up the headsail. It was lovely BUT yes there was a good swell and it was pretty rolly again.
Chris usually does a long first watch to check all is well aand I went below for a rest at about 5 or 6 - my phone and the clocks were telling different times as one was set on Spanish time and the other Portugese!!
I thought I had stowed everything away but somehow some things managed to get loose and would slide across the floor whenever we had a bad roll. I find this really disconcerting as it feels as if everything is going to come flying out of the lockers! At about 2300 I threw a paddy and told Chris I was never going sailing again and I blamed him for everything!! It didn't sound very nice out there and I was afraid we were heading for another gale. I was quite tearful as it felt like the end of the dream. STOP THE WORLD I WANT TO GET OFF!! Unfortunately, it's just not possible when you're at sea so I wiped my eyes, blew my nose ad put the kettle on. I poked my nose outside and in fact it wasn't nearly as bad as it sounded!!
So I relieved Chris who at first would only doze in the cockpit as he was concerned about me but eventually he did go down and have a proper sleep. Mind you, he only had 2 hours and then came up to relieve me. I did then sleep and got up about 0700 to see dawn breaking - lovely.
