We took the boat back down to Ayamonte last Saturday and she is safely moored in the marina whilst we take a holiday back home!
We got up on Thursday morning to a real English autumn day! It had rained hard over night and the skies still looked full of rain. We took the first ferry across the R Guadiana to Vila Real on Thursday morning and then walked up to the station to catch the train to Faro. Unfortunately we heard the whistle blow when we were about 200 yards away so had 21/4 hours to wait until the next one!! The train travels almost along the coast and it was an interesting journey through the countryside seeing some quite lush areas and others very dry.
At Faro we got a taxi to the airport and waited there for our flight - we'd come prepared and sandwiches and a drink with us so didn't fall foul of airport prices!
We were flying Ryanair andthe flight took off on time but we seemed to have to queue for ages with about 3/4 different checks!
There was a bit of turbulence to begin with which the baby behind us really enjoyed - chuckling all the time.
The wind was behind us and in fact we arrived 40 minutes early. My daughter, Sarah, came to pick us and we stayed in Bristol Thursday night. We then drove down to Chris' dad in Exeter on Friday afternoon.
Whilst here we hope to see a number of our friends before returning on 1 November.
